Linda Martin was born in Wales and has lived in Nanaimo since 1971.
She didn’t start painting seriously until 2000. Ultimately, fulfilling a lifetime goal, she enrolled in the Visual Arts programme at Vancouver Island University.
Also a published poet, Linda works from inspiration. Her paintings exhibit vibrant colours and textures and much of her work reflects the natural world. When painting animals, she tries to capture their spirit through their eye expressions. In 2013, she won the VIU Goodall-Rich Johnston Award for work that reflects the "spirit of Edward Goodall's love of nature."
She enjoys painting in oil, acrylic and watercolour mediums.
