Code Switching is a teen art program at the Nanaimo Art Gallery that offers young people the opportunity to become fluent in the language(s) of contemporary art, while retaining the agency to insert their own interests and means of expression. The term, code switching, occurs when a speaker alternates between two or more languages, or language varieties, in the context of a single conversation.
For our pop-up art show we are crafting an collaborative installation that is centered around the gallery's year long inquiry question: what does it mean to live on an island? Come and experience an immersive project by local emerging artists.
